How we use personal information

  • we use Alumni data to keep in touch with you as alumnae (as life-long members of the QF) and supporters, in order to keep you up to date with our activities and developments, to provide services to and support to you.
  • We will retain your data indefinitely or until you request us to do otherwise.  When changes are made to this statement, we will publish the updated version to our website and notify you by other communications channels as we deem appropriate or necessary.
  • The legal basis for processing your personal data is that it is necessary for the purposes of our legitimate interests, where we have concluded that our interests do not impact inappropriately on your fundamental rights and freedoms, except where elsewhere in this statement we have indicated otherwise.  You may ask us to explain our rationale at any time.   

How your data is used by the QF

Your data is used by us for a number of interdependent purposes, including alumnae relations and communications.  These include:

  1. publications
  2. surveys
  3. the promotion of alumnae and other QF events
  4. the promotion of other services open to QF members

What data is held by QF

We work closely with the University as a result of their shared interest in having a coordinated approach to their alumni and supporters.  We have a separate database from the University.

Where provided by you, records may contain:

  • details of your school, College and University education
  • your contact details
  • your attendance at College or University events
  • your career highlights and other life achievements
  • information about your personal interest
  • photographs of you
  • your communication preferences

 

When QF shares your data with others

We do not sell your personal data to third parties under any circumstances, or permit third parties to sell on the data we have shared with them.  We do not use third party wealth screening services.

We share data on a considered and confidential basis, where appropriate, with:

Contractors providing services to you on our behalf or services to us (our ‘data processors’) , including but not limited to database), mailing providers for publications.

Any transfers of your data overseas or to international organizations, as set out above, are protected either by an adequacy decision.

Your rights

You have the right: to ask us for access to, rectification or erasure of your data; to restrict processing (pending correction or deletion); to object to communications or direct marketing; and to ask for the transfer of your data electronically to a third party (data portability).  Some of these rights are not automatic, and we reserve the right to discuss with you why we might not comply with a request from you to exercise them.

 

QF Alumni Community Portal App End User License Agreement


This End User License Agreement (“Agreement”) is between you and QF Alumni Community Portal and
governs use of this app made available through the Apple App Store. By installing the QF Alumni Community
Portal App, you agree to be bound by this Agreement and understand that there is no tolerance for objectionable
content. If you do not agree with the terms and conditions of this Agreement, you are not entitled to use the QF
Alumni Community Portal In order to ensure QF Alumni Community Portal provides the best experience
possible for everyone, we strongly enforce a no tolerance policy for objectionable content. If you see inappropriate
content, please use the “Report as offensive” feature found under each post.


1. Parties
This Agreement is between you and QF Alumni Community Portal only, and not Apple, Inc. (“Apple”).
Notwithstanding the foregoing, you acknowledge that Apple and its subsidiaries are third party beneficiaries of this
Agreement and Apple has the right to enforce this Agreement against you. QF Alumni Community Portal, not
Apple, is solely responsible for QF Alumni Community Portal App and its content.

 

2. Privacy
QF Alumni Community Portal may collect and use information about your usage of the QF Alumni Community
Portal App, including certain types of information from and about your device. QF Alumni Community Portal
may use this information, as long as it is in a form that does not personally identify you, to measure the use and
performance of the QF Alumni Community Portal App.

 

3. Limited License
QF Alumni Community Portal grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the
QF Alumni Community Portal App for your personal, non-commercial purposes. You may only use the QF
Alumni Community Portal App on Apple devices that you own or control and as permitted by the App Store
Terms of Service.

 

4. Age Restrictions
By using the QF Alumni Community Portal App, you represent and warrant that (a) you are 17 years of age or
older and you agree to be bound by this Agreement; (b) if you are under 17 years of age, you have obtained
verifiable consent from a parent or legal guardian; and (c) your use of the QF Alumni Community Portal App
does not violate any applicable law or regulation. Your access to the QF Alumni Community Portal App may be
terminated without warning if QF Alumni Community Portal believes, in its sole discretion, that you are under
the age of 17 years and have not obtained verifiable consent from a parent or legal guardian. If you are a parent
or legal guardian and you provide your consent to your child’s use of the QF Alumni Community Portal App, you
agree to be bound by this Agreement in respect to your child’s use of the QF Alumni Community Portal App.

 

5. Objectionable Content Policy
Content may not be submitted to QF Alumni Community Portal, who will moderate all content and ultimately
decide whether or not to post a submission to the extent such content includes, is in conjunction with, or
alongside any, Objectionable Content. Objectionable Content includes, but is not limited to: (i) sexually explicit
materials; (ii) obscene, defamatory, libelous, slanderous, violent and/or unlawful content or profanity; (iii) content
that infringes upon the rights of any third party, including copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity or other personal
or proprietary right, or that is deceptive or fraudulent; (iv) content that promotes the use or sale of illegal or
regulated substances, tobacco products, ammunition and/or firearms; and (v) gambling, including without
limitation, any online casino, sports books, bingo or poker.

 

6. Warranty
QF Alumni Community Portal disclaims all warranties about the QF Alumni Community Portal App to the
fullest extent permitted by law. To the extent any warranty exists under law that cannot be disclaimed, QF Alumni
Community Portal, not Apple, shall be solely responsible for such warranty.

 

7. Maintenance and Support
QF Alumni Community Portal does provide minimal maintenance or support for it but not to the extent that any
maintenance or support is required by applicable law, QF Alumni Community Portal, not Apple, shall be
obligated to furnish any such maintenance or support.

 

8. Product Claims
QF Alumni Community Portal, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims by you relating to the QF
Alumni Community Portal App or use of it, including, but not limited to: (i) any product liability claim; (ii) any
claim that the QF Alumni Community Portal App fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory
requirement; and (iii) any claim arising under consumer protection or similar legislation. Nothing in this Agreement
shall be deemed an admission that you may have such claims.

 

9. Third Party Intellectual Property Claims
QF Alumni Community Portal shall not be obligated to indemnify or defend you with respect to any third-party
claim arising out or relating to the QF Alumni Community Portal App. To the extent QF Alumni Community
Portal is required to provide indemnification by applicable law, QF Alumni Community Portal, not Apple, shall
be solely responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement and discharge of any claim that the QF Alumni
Community Portal App or your use of it infringes any third-party intellectual property right.
